Understanding High-Performance SSDs ANd Their Working

Solid State Drives, commonly known as SSDs have become increasingly popular in years as a form of data storage. Unlike HDDs that use spinning disks to read and write data, the SSDs utilize NAND flash memory technology. Solid state drives (SSDs) function by storing data in a grid composed of NAND flash cells. Each cell has the capability to hold a bit of information representing either a 0 or a 1. When a user requests data from an SSD the controller initially identifies the block containing the desired information. Following this the controller sends a signal to discharge the stored charge within the NAND flash cells in that block. Subsequently, it converts this discharged charge back into data.

To write data onto an SSD the controller begins by erasing the designated block that will accommodate this information. Afterwards, it sends signals to charge up these NAND flash cells within that block. Finally, it proceeds to store the desired data within these charged cells.
